David, a young man after the heart of God - Evangelical Messages from God's Word

A young man full of God's anointing
A young man blessed
A young man after the heart of God
A young model
A young to be followed

Fill your bowl, and cometh send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite, because among his sons I have provided me a king.
2 He said, however, Samuel: How can I go? if Saul hear it and kill me. Then the Lord said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I came to offer sacrifice to the Lord:
3 And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint me to whom I refer.
4 He therefore Samuel what the Lord had said, and came to Bethlehem, the elders of the city came to meet him trembling, and said: Is thy coming peace?
5 And he said peace; came to offer sacrifice to the Lord. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 And it came to pass they entered, he saw Eliab, and said, Surely the Lord is before his anointed.
7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature, because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man sees, for man looks at what is before our eyes, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel, who said: Neither the Lord chosen this one.
9 Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by Samuel, however, said Nor is this the Lord chose.
10 So Jesse did spend seven of his sons before Samuel, but Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not chosen these.
11 And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, remains yet the youngest, who is tending the sheep. Then said Samuel to Jesse, Send and fetch him, for we will not sit down till he come hither.
12 Jesse sent for him and made him enter. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and comely. Then the Lord said, Arise, anoint him, for this is he.
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David.

1 Samuel 16

David was still a big boy when you chose him to be the next king of Israel.

Many of us ever ask ourselves what it is to have a heart after God's own heart?

King David had a heart after God's heart and then we try to find some very interesting aspects about this question.

Let's see ... Even as a young David Lord had already chosen David to be king if the Lord had already chosen was because he was a young man after his own heart. God himself confirms this when the prophet Samuel asks if Eliab was God's anointed:

7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature, because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man sees, for man looks at what is before our eyes, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

This means that the Lord had already plumbed the heart of the young David, and surely he must have been pleased that both saw and felt that the young man decided to anoint a king over him and put his Holy Spirit.

We can see some features of this privileged young man who found much favor with God. let's see ...

David was not there at the meeting with the prophet Samuel, with his father and his brothers because he was tending the sheep. This indicates that he was a young worker. He was actually a very hard worker, because while everyone was there in the house he was still at work taking care of his flock.

Besides being a youth worker he was very responsible, because we know it besides being a pastor was a good pastor and applied loved his sheep. He loved them so much that, if necessary, he would give his own life for them. Notice:

31 Then, the words were heard which David spake, they were said to Saul, who sent for him.
32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33 And Saul said to David, not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him, because you are still young, and he a man of war from his youth.
34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock
35 I went out after him, and killed, and delivered it out of his mouth, when he arose against me, I caught him by the jaw, and the hurt and killed.
36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

1 Samuel 17:26

Here is a great feature of this very young anointed: he fought for his sheep, he gave his life for his sheep had life. Even though some sheep were in the clutches of the beasts of this world He spared no effort, all he left there and went after that which was in the grip of the enemy. He struggled. He did not give up. He persevered and won.

However, the strength and great faith of the young David did not come himself, but came from the Lord for that, although very young, he trusted the Living God Strong and powerful, he walked with God, he knew God loved her. And God, because of that love, loved in a very special and wonderful. Look ...

36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

1 Samuel 17:36

Amen and Thank God!
