How to overcome selfishness - How to stop yourself - Posts Gospel of God's word

In today's post we will talk about selfishness.

Selfishness is something which causes certain person thinks or acts in a manner that, according to her, the world and everything in it are there only to serve you. In other words, the person that is selfish thinks the world revolves around her.

What is the best way to fight against selfishness?

It's doing just the opposite. You think and act as if the other, the interests and welfare of others are more important than his own welfare or interest.

Difficult?

No, this is not difficult. This is very difficult, but you can do. Can you change that situation yes.

What should we do to change this?

The first thing we want to do is actually change the situation of selfishness.
An excellent way to combat selfishness is to serve others.

Look for an NGO, religious institution, hospital, charitable institution that takes care of the needy, the sick, children, the elderly or animals and offer your time. Offer your strength. Offer your intelligence. Offer your knowledge. Offer you.

Another way to fight against selfishness is doing something for others. We can do anything. Most importantly, we do this for others and not for ourselves.

As a model for our fight against this selfishness we will inspire this wonderful word of God:

5 Be Your attitude the same Christ Jesus,
6 who, though being God, did not consider that to be equal with God was something that had to cling;
7 but emptied himself and became a servant, being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father - Philippians 2:5 to 11


He is everything. Everything was made by Him and for Him;
He did nothing for us to be everything;
He even being the King of the Universe He became our servant;
He was, and still is, the sovereign Lord of the universe, He did not need to do this, but He came among us to save you and me.

He is the Almighty God and He calls you a friend. If today we are counted among the friends of God this was only possible because the Lord Jesus Christ gave his life. This was only possible because He not only in himself and thought, This was only possible because he was not selfish.

This is the greatest example we might have to start our battle against selfishness.
